I sold my 1974 TVR 2500M in the Summer of 2008 to make way for something a little more “practical” (in classic British car terms) – if not quite as exotic – a Mini! Here is a short slideshow of the car as it was when I got it:
A couple of months of uneventful ownership later, a distracted driver in a pickup decided to move away from a traffic light while the Mini was still stopped in front of it. A nice crunch resulted:
The boot lid was clearly toast, as was the right tail light, but the “bumper” survived intact. The bodyshop reckoned they could pull the right side of the rear panel back into shape, so the only parts required would be the lid and the light.
It took forever for the parts to come in (I insisted on an OEM – “Heritage” – boot lid), but the car went in to Atlanta Road Body Shop and came out very nicely repaired:
As you can see, I also took the opportunity to remove the bulky license plate light for a smoother look. At the front, I added a couple of vinyl stripes for that ubiquitous “rally” look:
It may make no difference, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to (hopefully) make the car a little more visible by adding an additional brake light. I wanted something that could be mounted higher than the existing one, and preferably be very low profile so as not to look too cumbersome when not in use. I couldn’t find anything suitable online, so I rolled my own. Click on the thumbnail for details:
